Murmur of Youth (1997)

A somewhat despondent Mei-li Chen resides in the suburbs with her large family. She leaves college after discovering that the boy she admires has started dating someone else. Mei-li eventually secures a job selling tickets at a cinema. Over time, a strong bond forms between her and the other cashier in the modest ticket booth.

Murmur of Youth is a gentle yet compelling coming of age story which delves into the connection between its two young protagonists, as they struggle to find themselves within the busy urban sprawl of Taipei.
