Leila and the Wolves (1984)

Leila is a Lebanese woman living in London. While preparing a photography exhibition on Palestine, she questions why there are no photos of women. Which  sends her on a time traveling journey through Palestine and Lebanon, that reveals to her the role women have had in their resistance movements.

Leila and the wolves rewrites a history that is often dominated by men and hides the women involved in the political struggles. It was filmed over multiple years during the Lebanese civil war and right before the Syrian civil war. The film uses archival footage and re-enactments blending documentary and myth. It reveals the strength and resilience of the women.
