Directed by Louise Malle, My Dinner with Andre centres around the two actors André Gregory and Wallace Shawn as fictionalized versions of themselves. André and Wallace are two old friends that meet up in Café des Artistes in Manhattan, where they are having a conversation about theatre and the nature of life. Andrés has detailed and spiritual experiences, while Wallace has a more modest view on the topics, shedding light to their different worldviews. Wallace has been avoiding André for a while after he gave up on his career as a theatre director, and started to travel around the world as a response to a midlife crisis. 

My Dinner with André was well received by the public and is now considered classic.
