Humanity's desire to mimic God by creating life comes back to haunt the scientists in "Mimic", whose creation begins mimicking man.

As a way to solve an epidemic in Manhattan, a group of scientists create a mutant breed of insects meant to eradicate the disease-carrying cockroaches in the city, and then die after one generation. Unbeknownst to the scientists, not only do these insects carry on reproducing, but they also start developing traits that make them more intelligent, and they become able to act as one large organism. The scientists start working with the New York police with one goal in mind: to eradicate this man-made monster.
