Fallen Angels (1995)

Two stories, separate, yet connected by time and place. In the first, a hitman attempts to leave the life behind, but on his way out, falls in love with a sex-worker. In the second, a woman who has recently been dumped crosses paths with an escaped convict. 

Fallen Angels, originally written as a third storyline for Chungking Express, has since become a cult classic in its own right. This status can be credited in part to the striking visuals injected into the film by cinematographer Christopher Doyle, whose use of wide angle lenses alongside bright neon lighting transports the viewer into the fast-paced, disorientating underbelly of 1990s Hong-Kong.
