A nail-biting thriller about the calculating Tom Ripley (Matt Damon), who gets sent by a wealthy American to Italy in order to convince the man's spoiled playboy son, Dickie (Jude Law), to come back to the US. Ripley uses the opportunity to insert himself into the lives of Dickie and his fiancée (Gwyneth Paltrow), but things soon take a sinister turn when Ripley instead becomes intent on 'becoming' Dickie.
