It Follows

"Have you ever had the feeling you're being followed?"

In It Follows, Mitchell masterfully shows that a simple premise, when executed properly, can lead to some Grade-A Horror. The film follows a classic slasher-film narrative of young adults pursued by an evil being, but stands out with its subtle modernisations, and an elegantly meta evil entity.
The resemblance to classic slasher films from the 70s and 80s go further than the narrative though, as the visual and sonic aspects also heavily lend from the works of John Carpenter, George Romero and Tom Holland to name a few. The result is a horror-film that somehow feels both fresh and nostalgic.
